Harry Potter / Hogwarts Yule Ball Treats

Well, the Yule Ball was quite the success, not least because of all the delicious food!  If the deviled eggs are too much work, here's a few other ideas for HP parties:

The Forbidden Forest cake - a Black Forest cake, with a layer of brandied cherries in the middle, and snowy meringue "trees" topping it, plus one giant black Aragog made out of paper.

Hogwarts Crest Baked Brie - a round of Brie cheese, wrapped in pie crust, complete with the four House crests.  This one has food coloring added, so you know which corner to take a slice out of!

Here, in the foreground, are Pumpernickel Wands with spicy horseradish dip, which make for a great combination.

Not pictured are the Eyes of News (lightly pickled grapes) and Jelly Frogs (gummi frogs set in green Jell-O), along with the non-magic food brought by the Muggle contingent.

And, last but not least, the Potions Bar:

The small vials are various flavorings (vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, Grenadine, etc.); the tall ones are drink bases (soda water, tonic water, and ginger ale); and the colored flasks are Jolly Rancher-infused vodka (12 candy pieces per 8 oz. of vodka) kept cool in the freezer.

And, just for fun, here are some photos of dogrons (dog-dragons):

And that's how you host a successful Yule Ball!
